Obituary of Suzanne T. Oyer

Olean, NY Suzanne Traylor Oyer passed in the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday (November 3, 2023) after a long illness of scleroderma.
She was the eldest daughter of Carroll Garland and Jean Shafer Traylor and was born in Richmond, VA on July 19, 1940. She married W. Mark Oyer in July of 1962 who predeceased her on April 29, 2010.
Sue grew up in Roanoke, VA, and was a graduate of Jefferson High School in 1958. She then went on to complete her bachelor’s in education from Houghton College and her master's from the State University of Buffalo. She taught 4th grade for Salamanca for 34 for years and retired in June of 1997.
Her faith was very important to her. Most recently, she was a member of the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany where she was very active in her church teaching young people, supporting missionary work, participating in Sunday school, and she had a card ministry. She loved her church family.
Surviving are her two children Seth (Breanne) Oyer of Williamsville, and Amy (Daniel) Scull of Olean; her grandchildren, Taya Oyer, Emma Oyer, Reese Oyer, Nicholas Scull and Natalee Scull; a sister Arlyn ( Tom) Wattenbarger of Johnson City, TN, 1 cousin, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Christina Holland and Stephanie Simmons.
Friends will be received at the Five Mile Baptist Church on Thursday (November 9, 2023) from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will begin at 1pm . Tom Potter will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
