JANET L. CORNELL "Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother" ALLEGANY - Janet L. Cornell of 2050 El Dorado Drive died Saturday October 25, 2003 at the Olean General Hospital. Born in Olean on July 19, 1943 she was a daughter of Leo and Thelma Dunham Hitchcock. On August 19, 1961 in Allegany she married Roland "Ron" Cornell who survives. Mrs. Cornell was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany. She was the president of the Allegany American Legion Social Club and was the former secretary for the Olean Woman's Bowling Association. She was an avid bowler and golfer. Janet was an active volunteer for many local organizations. She enjoyed all arts and crafts and enjoyed playing bingo. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter; Shannon (Tom) Hatch of Limestone, four grandchildren; Cody, Brianne, Brittany and Tiffany Hatch and two great grandchildren; Hannah and Kaylee Hatch, four sisters; Geraldine Lengvarski, Emeline (Tony) Belli, both of Allegany, Betty (Barry) Glover and Glenda Malarae, both of Florida, one brother; Wayne (Bernita) Hitchcock of Florida and many nieces and nephews including Amie Muehlnickel who the Cornell's helped raise. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters; Norma Jean Quattrone, Gloria Wolfe and Phyllis Muehlnickel, and two brothers; William Hitchcock and Edward Hitchcock. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean on Sunday October 26, 2003 from 7-9 PM and on Monday October 27, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday October 28, 2003 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Gerard leFeber, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Committal services and burial will follow at Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department.
