Obituary of Justin R. Walterich

Justin R. Walterich Olean, NY Justin R. Walterich, 50, of 413 Laurens St., passed away Thursday (October 6, 2022) at home. Born April 12, 1972 in Olean he was the son of Rhonda Johnston Walterich and James Walterich. Justin graduated from Olean High School and attended Jamestown Community College before pursuing his talent in computer technology in the workplace. As a younger man he worked as a seasonal sales associate for Hickory Farms at the Olean Center Mall. While living for a short time in Victor he was a “fire dog” for Circuit City and even worked on computers in customer’s homes. In Olean, he used his computer skills at Staples as a technician. He used his love of computer technology to help others and helped with technical support for the Boy Scouts of America at Camp Merz. He was accomplished in 3-D printing as well. He always had a love for his pet cats. Justin was loved by his family and friends, and he maintained his sense of humor despite his health challenges. He leaves behind his mother Rhonda of Olean; his father James of Olean; his “2nd Mom” Maggie Stady of Allegany; 7 brothers and sisters, Shawn (Tiffany) Dugan of Gilbert, AZ, Kellie (Jeremy) Baxter of Allegany, Kari (Nicholas) Faulkner of Allegany, Carl Walterich of Olean, Carleen Walterich of Lumberton, NC, Blaine Walterich of Olean and Bryce Walterich of Olean; a maternal uncle Thomas Johnston of Olean; paternal uncle Dennis Walterich of Olean; paternal great uncle George Sullivan of Carlsbad, CA; paternal great aunt Dolores Sullivan of Antioch, IL, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Shane Dugan on March 6, 2022 his maternal grandparents Robert and Madeline Johnston, his paternal grandparents James and Mary Walterich, and an aunt, Linda Schutt. The family will be present to received friends on Tuesday from 4-6pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean, and again on Wednesday (October 12, 2022) from 11am until 1pm at which time a celebration of life service will begin. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean. Justin was a 35-year dialysis patient. Therefore, memorials, if desired, may be made to the Marie Lorenz Dialysis Center, 623 Main St., Olean, NY 14760.
