Olean, NY Mary L. Panada, 73, of 903 W. Henley St., passed away peacefully Tuesday (April 26, 2022) at Absolut Care of Salamanca after a lengthy illness.
Born July 20, 1948 in Olean, she was the daughter of Carl A. and Ethel L. Shaw Reed. On October 15, 1966 in Olean, she married Robert “Jimmy” Panada who survives.
Mary attended Olean High School and worked in housekeeping at Olean General Hospital for over 35 years. Her “second job” after retirement was babysitting for her friend’s son, Ryan Shoup for 6 years which brought her immense joy and satisfaction.
She was a member of Olean Moose Lodge #119 and was a regular at bingo for many years. She was a passionate fan of the Buffalo Bills, the New York Yankees, and St. Bonaventure basketball. Her greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her loving family includes her husband Jimmy of 55 years; 3 children Robert A. (Maureen) Panada of Rochester, Steven P. Panada of Olean and Tracy L. Panada of Allegany; 3 grandchildren Desirae A. (Chad) Bugman of Nunda, Lauren A. (Jonathan) Huggins of Wilmington, NC and Landon J. Cussins of Bradford, PA; 6 great grandchildren Phoenix, Portlyn, Preston, Payton and Pryce Bugman, all of Nunda and Cole Cussins of Bradford, PA; 5 siblings Kathy Duino of Allegany, and Anita Schnell, Karen (Paul) DeLong, Helen Kay Reed and Jeff (Tami) Reed, all of Olean and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was deeply loved by many friends whom she considered to be like family.
The family welcomes friends to a memorial visitation on Saturday (April 30, 2022) from 2-4pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 4pm in the funeral home. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon to be held at the Olean Moose Lodge.
