Dorothy M. Mohr Allegany, NY Dorothy M. Mohr, 96, of Colonial Village, died peacefully Tuesday evening (March 8, 2022) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean after a brief illness. She had been a resident there for one year. Born March 25, 1925 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of James and Rose Troendle LaVorgna. On September 1, 1945 in Buffalo, she married Clarence F. Mohr who predeceased her August 5, 2012. Dorothy was chaperoning her younger sister, Evie, as she visited with her boyfriend, Don Mohr, in Salamanca. To distract her, they introduced Dorothy to Don’s uncle, Clarence of Allegany. They shared a loving marriage of 67 years, living over 40 years on Main St. In 1991, Don and Evie reconnected, married, and relocated to Allegany as well. Dorothy first worked for the former Chevrolet plant (Buffalo) prior to moving to Allegany with her husband. There she worked for the former Acme Electric Co., the former Family Bargain Center for 10 years, and the former Bradner’s Department Store in the marking room. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and, along with her husband, Clarence, enjoyed singing as a member of the choir. She also participated in Sixty-Plus activities and was honored for her years of volunteering, including delivering Meals on Wheels. She also loved playing euchre and other card games. They spent 20 years camping seasonally in Franklinville and Shinglehouse, PA. Surviving are 3 sons Robert (Barbara) Mohr of Cuba, NY, Ronald Mohr (Wes Fink) of Mexico and Barry (Julie) Mohr of Warren, PA; one daughter, Joan Krist of Rochester, NY; 8 grandchildren Chris Mohr, Jeff Mohr, Greg (Rachel) Mohr, Amy (Dennis) Field , Jenifer Krist, Stephanie Krist, Nicholas Mohr, Jessica Mohr and Shayna Gourley ; 6 great-grandchildren Elayna, Ashton, Bradeden, Brooklyn, Neala and Oliver: and many nieces and nephews. She also made many friends over the years. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by 3 sisters and 6 brothers. On April 13, 2016, she was predeceased by her beloved son-in-law, Peter Krist. The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A prayer service will be held Monday (March 14, 2022) at 9:00am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. The Mass can be live streamed and watched in the future @ http://buffalomedia.net/03/14/2022. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorials may be made to St. Bonaventure Church. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
