Mark R. Swanson Allegany, NY Mark R. Swanson, 64, of 2715 Five Mile Rd., passed away suddenly Saturday (January 8, 2022) after an apparent heart attack. Born May 22, 1957 in Olean, he was the son of Richard S. and Marion A. Draper Swanson. Mark graduated from Allegany High School in 1975 and was active in school sports. He worked various places in the area, including L. C. Whitford Co. and Casella Waste Systems, and he worked and lived in the Lake Placid area, then Rochester, and Buffalo before moving back to Allegany. He enjoyed staying close to home and kept busy with activities such as watching sports on TV, especially the Buffalo Bills. Over the last 12 years he had made his home with David and Carol Ozzella in Allegany where he used his great carpentry skills, and enjoyed small-scale farming. His favorite outdoor activity was growing pumpkins. He is survived by a daughter Nicole Potter of Waterville, ME; a son Ryan Lehere of East Amherst; 1 twin sister Anne Clerkin of Whitney Point and a brother John Swanson of S. Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Jill Clark on January 5, 2011. Friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday (January 14, 2022) from 3-4pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean.
