Obituary of Catherine L. Ash

Catherine L. Ash Olean, NY-- Catherine L. Ash of 401 Alder St. died Tuesday (May 11, 2004) in the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. Born March 11, 1916 in !LaPorte, PA she was the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth Plano Caffo. In 1943 in Olean she married Samuel Ash who predeceased her February 5, 1991. Mrs. Ash was a 1935 graduate of Olean High School and was a 21 year resident of Las Vegas prior to moving back to Olean in 1991. While in Las Vegas she had been employed as manager of the Silver Bird Gift and Jewelry Shop and she also worked for six years for The Dunes casino prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean. Surviving are one daughter Valerie Ash of Pittsburgh, PA; one sister Bina Herzog of Olean; one brother Vincent Caffo of Olean; several nieces and nephews, including Les and Betsy Green and their son Lucas of Bolivar, NY and Vincent Caffo of Chicago, IL and a close friend Darlene Logue of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by one sister Della Williams and three brothers Stephen Caffo, Albert Caffo and Louis Caffo, Jr. Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass to be celebrated Saturday (May 22, 2004) at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
