Please share a memory of Diane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Diane R. Lowry Olean, NY Diane R. Lowry, 67, of Olean, was received into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday (November 25, 2021), after a long and brave battle with cancer. Diane’s strong faith, love of family, artistry in preserving memories, and passion for serving others permeated her entire life. Born July 24, 1954 in Buffalo, Diane acquired these virtues as the daughter of Pastor Clifford J. and Christine S. Waugh (Golden), the faithful Pastor and caretakers of the Church of Corinth in Cattaraugus, NY. She graduated from Cattaraugus Central School in 1972. While in High School, Diane met George S. Lowry, the love of her life and surviving husband. The two met on her sixteenth birthday at the Great Valley Fair. George and Diane later committed their lives to Christ during a Jesus movement gathering in 1971. They were married in Cattaraugus on October 14, 1972. Shortly thereafter, Diane began raising a family. She labored tirelessly to create a place that she and her family could call home. Assisting with Scripture memorization, decorating the home, and photographing special moments were just a few of the ways that Diane fulfilled her work as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Diane later used her talents as a caregiver, property steward, interior decorator, and adept photographer in her professional career. She worked for many years as a property manager in Ellicottville. Starting in 1997, she worked as an Aide for the Allegany-Limestone School District and was set to retire soon. Diane used her passion for photography to establish and run her own business, Photography By Diane. For nearly 25 years, she captured beautiful memories at weddings and family events from late spring to early fall. Diane, George, and their family moved from Cattaraugus to Olean in 1990. Diane loved Jesus, her family, her home, and Christmas. For the last eight years, Diane especially loved her summer stays at the family cottage in rural Cattaraugus County, and she cherished spending time vacationing at the beach in the Outer Banks, NC with her sister and extended family. Diane also loved dogs and had a special place in her heart for rescue shelters. Her strong Christian faith guided her life and brought peace to her spirit and to her family and friends who loved her. Surviving Diane are George, her loving husband of 49 years; 1 daughter, Charity Lowry of Olean; 2 sons, Israel Lowry of Charlotte, NC and Seth Lowry of Atlanta, GA; 2 grandchildren George K. Lowry and Giana Lowry; 1 sister Linda Ackley of Lewis Run, PA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Diane was predeceased by a daughter, Elisabeth Lowry, on June 5, 1977. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday (November 30, 2021) from 10am until noon at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon in the funeral home. Rev. Chuck Maine, pastor of Epic Church in Olean, will officiate. Interment will be in Liberty Park Cemetery, Cattaraugus, NY.
