Obituary of Catherine R. Williams

Catherine R. Williams ‘loving grandmother" Machias, NY-- Catherine R. Williams, a 22 year resident of The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Machias died Sunday (August 15, 2004) after a long illness. Born January 10, 1904 in Coalgrove, PA she was the daughter of Edgar and Anna Barbara Elling Foote. On August 14, 1920 she married Albert Sidney Williams who predeceased her. Mrs. Williams resided in Olean most of her life and had formerly worked in the silk mill and also for Olean General Hospital. She was the oldest resident at The Pines and over the years she enjoyed bingo, reading and taking shopping trips with her family. Surviving are one son Robert Eugene (Florence) Williams of Brookville, PA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother David (Fran) Williams of Cuba and several nieces and nephews including Herbert Williams and Rose Williams who resided with her at The Pines. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by two daughters Alice Knapp and Anna Margaret Williams; three sisters Gladys Forness, Beatrice Williams and Margaret S. Williams and two brothers Ambrose Foote and Ward Foote. Friends will be received on Wednesday (August 18, 2004) from 11:00am until 1:00pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Rev. David Johnson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to The Resident Council of The Pines of Machias.
