I don't know if you remember me, Bruce, but I was a patient at the Absolut and was released just about a year ago. Your Mom and I talked on the phone once in a while, and always had something to laugh about. I stopped to visit one day when I was in Olean, but she was visiting with a group of ladies, whom I believe were residents of the facility at the time. Dolly meant the world to me and we became very good friends. I'm sure you remember pulling the string out of my glasses when I was cleaning them with a pair of my old underwear, because they had no fabric softener on them. I was going to frame them and give them to her for you, as a remembrance of me. I loved you Mom a lot and cried when I read the Olean Times Herald tonight. I lost my husband to cancer in August, and have lost both my parents so I know how you and your family feel. It's hard to accept that she's in a better place, but I've tried to come to those terms with Bob. We were married 47 years, and he was supposed to be healed, but wasn't. It's a long road and I'm pushing every day to make it to the end. God Bless you and your family and may God Bless my dear friend Dolly.
Love,
Mary Deet
