Obituary of Sarah J. Palmer

Sarah J. Palmer Olean, NY-- Sarah J. Palmer of Olean died Sunday (September 5, 2004) in The Pines of Olean. Born June 27, 1919 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Robert J. and Albertina Harriet Reazs Metler. On January 21, 1943 in Olean she married Howard S. Palmer who predeceased her August 21, 1993. Mrs. Palmer was a lifelong resident of Olean and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Olean. She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines and also was a former volunteer for the Olean General Hospital. She enjoyed painting and will be remembered for her artistic talent. Surviving are a daughter Charlotte (Robert) Woodarek of Allegany; a son Craig (Christina) Palmer of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren Lynne Woodarek, Lora (Michael) Kimball, Cristin Palmer and Collin Palmer; a great granddaughter Chloe Marie Kimball; two brothers Francis (Betty) Metler of Lancaster and Robert (Margaret) Metler of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a brother Charles Metler who was killed in action during WWII and a sister Elaine Harris. At Mrs. Palmer’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
