Virginia Conner
Fairport, NY Virginia Conner, 91, formerly of Allegany, passed away Thursday (December 20, 2018) at the Fairport Baptist Home where she had resided for the past three years.
Born December 7, 1927 in Olean she was the daughter of James and Dorothy Willard Oakleaf. On December 25, 1946 in Allegany she married Cleo "Pat" Conner who predeceased her May 17, 1988.
Mrs. Conner was a graduate of Allegany High School and raised her family as the wife of a U.S. Army serviceman in Austria, Massachusetts and Oklahoma. She and her husband moved back to Allegany in 1958 where they enjoyed 30 more years of marriage until Pat's death. She then resided in Florida from 1989 to 2006 at which time she moved closer to her son in Webster.
She enjoyed exercising, bowling and traveling and was an active member of the Olean YMCA where she enjoyed exercising in the company of her many friends. She could easily develop a close circle of friends wherever she lived and while in Florida she continued her active lifestyle and enjoyed making new friendships.
Surviving are 1 son David (Lauren Ross) Conner of Webster; 2 granddaughters Melanie Conner and Erica Byers and 3 great grandchildren Avery, Ian and Lydia.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son Timothy Conner on October 28, 2017 and a sister Jean Ehinger.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held Thursday (December 27, 2018) at noon at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery.
