MADELYN FORNESS ROBBINS
OLEAN – Madelyn Forness Robbins, a longtime resident of Aspen Towers, died Monday September 6, 2004 at the Olean General Hospital. Born in Allegany on March 7, 1916 she was a daughter of Joseph and Mary Harbel Forness. In April of 1966 she married Floyd Robbins who predeceased her in June of 1967. Mrs. Robbins was a graduate of Allegany High School. She was employed for the Olean Pharmacy, Crown Pharmacy and Magnano Pharmacy in Cuba, NY retiring in December of 1987. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and attended St. John the Baptist Church in Vandalia. She was a member of the Olean American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a sister-in-law Minnie Forness; one niece, Donna Ligouri; nephews, Terrance Godfrey, David Godfrey, John (Bonnie) Forness, William (Mary) Forness, Eugene (Charlene) Forness, Robert (Lori) Forness and Richard (Shirley) Forness. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by sisters Marjorie Godfrey and Winifred Forness; brothers Leslie and Norbert Forness and loving companion William Sliger.
Friends will be received on Wednesday September 8, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday (Sept. 9) beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 11:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Vandalia at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Patrick Tuttle, OFM will be celebrant. Burial and committal prayers will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. A vigil wake service will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday evening.
