Jon P. Russell
Olean, NY Jon P. Russell, of Olean, passed away Monday (April 16, 2018) at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Buffalo.
Born April 5, 1940 in Olean he was the son of W. Clarke and Catherine M. Kasper Russell.
Jon's family owned a dairy farm in Allegany named Russell's Maples, where he enjoyed growing up and helping with raising the animals, as well as hunting and fishing. He attended Allegany High School and was active with the 4-H club.
After the farm sold in 1976, Jon went to work for the Cattaraugus County Highway Department for 5 years. He then worked for the former St. Francis Hospital in the dietary department.
He loved the Lord, and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Olean, having been recently baptized in the name of Jesus at the Olean YMCA pool. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially at Christmas, and was always quick to make people laugh. He was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Recently he had been attending Total Senior Care where he enjoyed the friendships and activities. Jon laughed often and loved his family immensely.
Surviving are 2 nieces Wendy (Wayne) Krulish and Cindy Forness; 5 nephews Warren C. (Renee) Russell, III, Curtis (Toni) Russell, Christopher (Tammy) Russell, Michael (Cassidy) Nicholas and David (Christina) Forness; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law Kay Mattern of Olean and a significant other, Dorothy Bliss of Olean.
He was predeceased by a brother Warren C. Russell, II in 1998; a sister Louisa "Lola" Forness in 2016; 3 nephews Dan Forness, Mark Forness and William Russell and a niece Kimberly Forness.
A visitation will be held Monday (April 23, 2018) from 10am until noon at United Pentecostal Church, 1100 Homer St., Olean. Services will begin at noon at the church. Senior Pastor Steven Beattie, will officiate. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery.
