Charles J. "Chuck" Crooks
"Outdoorsman, and loving husband & father"
Limestone, NY-- Charles J. "Chuck" Crooks of 1067 N. Main St. died Saturday (October 2, 2004) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness.
Born November 13, 1948 in Olean, NY he was the son of Frank H. and Ella M. Crawford Crooks. On September 27, 1969 in Machias, NY he married Myra A. Keesler who survives.
Mr. Crooks was raised in Limestone and attended Limestone schools, later moving to Fillmore in 1969. He then resided in Phoenix, AZ from 1977 until 1981 at which time he moved to Machias. He had been a resident of Limestone since 1992. He had worked in the construction business over the years and most recently had been employed by Bush Industries in Jamestown prior to his retirement.
While residing in Fillmore, Mr. Crooks volunteered as an EMT and ambulance driver for the Fire Department. All of his life he enjoyed the outdoors, especially trapping, fishing and hunting. He will be remembered as an avid sportsman and as a person who had a good and happy outlook on life.
Surviving besides his wife are five children; Terrie Everetts of Phoenix, AZ, Steve (Carol) Everetts of Wittman, AZ, William (Betty) Kellogg of San Diego, CA, Kathleen (Mike) Cokl of Jamestown and Frank Crooks of Limestone; several grandchildren, including Colton Crooks; one brother Fred (Doraleen) Crooks of Machias; one sister Lorna (Daniel) Hughes of Limestone and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (October 6, 2004) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Pastor Gerry Haines of Fellowship Church in Machias will officiate. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department.
