Marjorie A. Evans Olean, NY-- Marjorie A. Evans of 1230 Goodrich Ave. in Olean died Tuesday (October 22, 2002) in the Olean General Hospital. Born September 13, 1919 in Canada she was the daughter of Robert and Mary Bulger Purtell. On December 6, 1948 in Allegany she married Ronald Evans who predeceased her in 1977. Mrs. Evans had been employed in the housekeeping department of Olean General Hospital prior to her retirement. Surviving are 3 grandchildren Todd Evans, Jeff Evans and Christine Thomas, all of Olean; 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Carmel Purtell of Kingston, Ontario Canada and Madeline Stairdner, of Edmonton, Alberta Canada and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Diane R. Evans on March 22, 2002; 2 sisters Muriel Reid and Dorothy Sears and 2 brothers Russell Purtell and William Purtell. Friends will be received on Friday from 9-11:00am in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Jay Gilbert of the House of Prayer Evangelistic Center in Olean will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
