Obituary of Lewis W. Hudson

Lewis W. Hudson "loving father and grandfather" Olean, NY-Lewis W. Hudson, 89, recently of Underwood Manor in Hinsdale and formerly of Spring Court Apartments in Olean died Tuesday (October 5, 2004) in Cuba Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born July 10, 1915 in Curvensville, PA he was the son of William and Mary E. !LaPorte Hudson. Mr. Hudson was a veteran of the US Army from 1941 until 1945, having served during WWII in the European-African-Middle Eastern theatre. He was an employee of the former Daystrom Furniture Co. prior to moving to Woodlawn, and later Derby and then Lackawanna, NY. He worked for Lehigh Portland Cement Co. in Buffalo and later for Xcelite Tool and Die Co. in Orchard Park prior to his retirement. He had resided in Olean since 1988. He hobbies included doing oil paintings and building model airplanes. In addition to his love of family, he was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. Surviving are one daughter Veronica (Lewis) Callahan of Olean; two sons Richard Hudson of Silver Creek and Larry Hudson of Allegany; several grandchildren including Darla Callahan, Wesley (Courtney) Callahan and Jason Hudson Bell; and several cousins He was predeceased by a son Barry A. Hudson on October 30, 2002 and a longtime companion Clara Santiago in 1978. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd., Olean on Friday (October 8, 2004) from noon until time of services at 2:00pm. Rev. David Johnson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Veterans Field of Honor, Olean. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department or to a charity of the donor's choice.
