Amelia Apollonio
Allegany, NY-- Amelia Apollonio, 100, recently of Valley View Manor, Olean died Saturday (October 9, 2004) in The Pines of Olean Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 1, 1904 in Austria, she was the daughter of John and Josephine Paronich Petz. On October 1, 1921 she married Antonio Apollonio who predeceased her in 1983.
Mrs. Apollonio emigrated to the United States as a young girl and resided in Brooklyn, NY most of her life. She then resided in Florida with her daughter prior to moving to the Allegany area in 2002.
While living in Brooklyn she belonged to the Hudson River Yacht Club. She always enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting and needlework.
Surviving are one daughter Eleanor L. !DiFazio of Allegany; three grandchildren Thomas (Joanne) !DiFazio of Deer Park, NY, Steven (Darcy) !DiFazio of Kane, PA and Carol (David) Fisher of Allegany; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; one sister Alice (Alfred) Acello of Stuart, FL; two brothers Arthur Petz of Brooklyn, NY and Alfred Paronich of New Orleans, LA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by one sister Annie Iurcovich and one brother Albert Petz.
Friends will be received today from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Monday (October 11, 2004) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Friends of The Pines 2245 W. State St. Olean, NY.
