Richard A. Taylor "devoted husband, father, grandfather" Allegany, NY--Richard A. Taylor, 63 of 1468 Chipmonk Road died Monday (October 18, 2004) in the Olean General Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born February 9, 1941 in Buffalo, NY he was the son of Everett and Eleanor Lefugan Taylor. On July 5, 1969 at the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany he married Mary Ann Stevenson who survives. Mr. Taylor attended school in Orchard Park and then enlisted in the US Army from 1960 until 1963. He served as a helicopter mechanic in Germany during the Berlin crisis. He was employed for many years for the E. F. Lippert Sand and Gravel Co. and later for eight years for the Town of Carrollton prior to his retirement in 2000. As an avid sportsman, he was a life member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was especially devoted to his family. Surviving besides his wife are one son Scott Taylor at home; two daughters Renee Taylor of Albion, NY and Hope Taylor of Colby, KS; one granddaughter Karisma; one sister Carol Tudor of Orchard Park, NY; one brother Donald Taylor of Tupper Lake, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother Everett Taylor. Friends will be received today from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Thursday (October 21, 2004) at 10:30am in the funeral home. Rev. Daniel !McKee, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department or to "Project 2000" at the First Presbyterian Church 44 N. 3rd St. Allegany, NY 14706.
