William J. Wineberg
Olean, NY William J. Wineberg, 65, of 210 N. 12th St. passed away peacefully Saturday (May 13, 2017) after a long illness, with his family present at his side.
Born September 20, 1951 in Olean he was a son of Kenneth and Grace Nick Wineberg. On May 12, 1984 in Olean he married Debra Higley who survives.
William was a 1969 graduate of Bradford High School and in his teenage years worked with his father in the oil fields. He had a long career as a truck driver for the refinery business, retiring in 2014.
He was a longtime member of the Eagles Club and Elk's Lodge, both in Olean where he enjoyed the company of many friends. He was quick to make acquaintances and seemed to run into someone he knew just about anywhere he traveled. He was a caring person and he showed it with his quick wit and humorous one-liners.
William was active with many hobbies including working on cars, hunting, league bowling with his wife, singing and playing guitar and attending jamborees. To his family, he was present for his children's sporting events and activities and he cherished special get-togethers such as reunions.
Surviving besides his wife are 3 children Stacey (PJ) Blehar of Olean, Jane (Mike Mahoney) Wineberg of Rochester and Erik (Trisha) Wineberg of Olean; 6 grandchildren Nicholas Cappelletti, Casey Cappelletti, Jack Blehar, Alex Blehar, Ever Mahoney, and Lennox Weinberg; 3 brothers Richard "Dick" (Shirley) Wineberg of Smethport, PA, Dennis (Sally) Wineberg of Bradford, PA and Jim (Linda) Wineberg of Arizona; 2 sisters Debby Filarecki and Cindy (Ron) Peters, both of Bradford, PA; several nieces and nephews; 3 brothers-in-law Robert (Mary Ann) Higley of Bradford, PA and Joseph Higley and Dean (Liz) Higley, both of Olean and a sister-in-law Jenny (Doug) Kohl of Ischua.
He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers-in-law Mike Utter, Rick Filarecki and Miles Higley and a nephew Kenneth Wineberg.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 1-3 & 6-8pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Thursday (May 18, 2017) at 10am in the funeral home. Rev. David Tourville, associate pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Parish, will officiate.
