"Avid shopper"
Olean, NY-- Angela Spada Silluzio, 78, of 422 First Avenue passed away peacefully at home on Monday (October 18, 2004).
Born January 1, 1926 in Floridia, Sicily-Italy she was the daughter of Giuseppe and Salvatrice Bazzano Spada. On July 9, 1954 she married Luigi Silluzio who predeceased her August 22, 1991.
Mrs. Silluzio immigrated to the United States in the mid 1950’s and took residence in Hartford, CT until the family moved to Olean in 1962. She had been employed by the Olean General Hospital’s housekeeping department for fifteen years until her retirement in 1988.
She was a communicant of St. John’s Church in Olean and was devoted totally to her family, caring for her husband during his long illness, and will be immensely missed by all family and friends. She was an avid shopper, passionately enjoyed cooking for all, and loved to dance at family functions.
She leaves behind two beloved sons Caetano "Tom" (June) Silluzio of Olean and Joseph (Carol) Silluzio of Simsbury, CT; two grandchildren who were the love of her life Justin and Sara Silluzio; three sisters Mary Mainardi and Lina Cantone, both of Rocky Hill, CT and Salvatrice (Gaetano) Amenta of Hartford, CT; two sisters-in-law Nuccia Spada of Rocky Hill, CT and Angelina Silluzio of Millidi, Italy; two brothers-in law Vincent (Doris) Silluzio of Olean and Giuseppe (Lucietta) Silluzio of Sortino, Italy and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by one brother Paul Spada.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean where a prayer service will be held Saturday (October 23, 2004) at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. John’s Church. Msgr. William Wangler, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery next to her beloved husband Luigi.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. John’s Church.
