Obituary of Don C. Smith, Sr.

Don C. Smith, Sr., a former resident of the Buffalo area, died at home in Salamanca on Sunday (October 30, 2016) after a long illness. Born October 30, 1952 in Roaring Springs, PA he was a son of Edward and Shirley Thomas Smith. On June 16, 2000 in Allegany he married Paula Gable who survives. Don was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the US Marine Corps from 1971 to 1973. He had been employed by the Ford Stamping Plant in Buffalo prior to his disability. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, especially with his fellow bikers. Surviving besides his wife are 6 children Kelly, Kim, Korie, Kristy, Don "Bud", Jr. and Dustin; 2 step children Al and Melissa; many grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 sister Deb Crampton and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and 4 brothers Ed, Jr., twin Dan, Tom and Rick. At Don's request, there will be no scheduled services. Burial will be in the family plot in Martinsburg, PA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
