FREDERICK D. GARRIS OLEAN - Frederick D. Garris of South Barry Street died Saturday October 30, 2004 shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 13, 1969 he was the son of Lawrence Garris and Elizabeth Chandler. Mr. Garris moved to the Olean area several years ago. He was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Assembly and was formerly employed at !SubCon Industries. Fred enjoyed watching professional wrestling, bike riding and writing poetry. He will be remembered as a friendly and giving person. He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Godfrey and stepfather, Jesus Melendez, both of Olean; father Larry Garris of Columbia, SC; sisters Karen Chandler of Florence, SC, Lucille Spencer and Monique Pringle, both of Brooklyn; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Bertha Aguas. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Rd., Olean on Thursday November 4, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday (Nov. 5) at Mt. Zion Christian Assembly, 361 Front Street, Olean at 11:00 AM. Rev. R. Stanley Parks, pastor will officiate. Burial and committal services will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Olean. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
