Vivian M. Hamilton
Allegany, NY Vivian M. Hamilton of 3897 Old State Rd. passed away in the loving presence of her family on Wednesday (April 27, 2016) at The Absolut of Allegany.
Born March 19, 1931 in Freedom she was the daughter of William and Gertrude Perry Washburn. On July 12, 1960 at the former First Methodist Church in Olean she married Melvin Hamilton who predeceased her November 17, 2010.
Mrs. Hamilton enjoyed raising her family and doing homemaking activities such as sewing and knitting. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the garden. She had also been employed as a bus driver for Allegany Central School for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
Surviving are 3 daughters Dianna (James) Connelly of Allegany, Cheryl Collins of Allegany and Christine A. (Thomas) Moshier of Monroe, NC; 1 son Daniel (Vicki) Jenkins of Westons Mills; 14 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 5 siblings David Washburn of Arkansas, Edgar Washburn of Fillmore, William (Gertrude) Washburn, Jr. of Bliss, Margaret Clark of Gainesville, FL and Lynnan Washburn of Allegany; many nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbors. She also leaves behind her precious cat M.E.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son Lindy Jenkins; a grandson Marshall Collins; a great grandson Brent ConnellyAustin; a great granddaughter Sadi Griffin and 6 siblings Richard Washburn, Kenny Cross, Arloween Kaiser, Mildred Eyler, Winifred Wolfer and Wilma Benedict.
Friends will be received on Friday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (April 30, 2016) at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
