Hinsdale- Matthew D. Harper of 4251 Gile Hollow Road, passed away Wednesday (February 24, 2016). Born October 29, 1973 in Yakima WA., he was the son of Douglas and Nancy Journey Harper. On July 7, 2007 at St. Mary of the Angels Church, he married Kathleen “Kelly” Layman, who survives. Matt was currently attending college at Jamestown Community College and had previously worked at the Olean General Hospital as a Physical Therapy Aide. He was a past member of the Hinsdale School Board and had coached the Hinsdale Youth Soccer and Softball teams. Matt enjoyed photography, working on computers, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Matt is survived by a daughter Leyna Harper at home; his mom Nancy (Blane Marlow) Morris of North Carolina; one brother Lucas (Lisa) Morris of Arizona; his maternal grandmother Phyllis Journey of Ohio; father and mother-in-law Lyle and Helen Layman of Olean; three sisters-in-law Karen (Jeremy) Layman- Woolston of Olean, Kristin Layman of Olean, and Kaitlyn Layman of Olean; many aunts, uncles, cousins and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Monday (February 29) from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be private. Burial will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.oleanfuneralhome.com.
