Dear Fern, Bill and Ian,
Portia and I are so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I know he had a long fight these last couple of months, which was certainly difficult for all of you.
Even though I didn't get to know Jack under the best of circumstances, I was still impressed by his humor, warmth and the pride he took in his family and business. His manner of speech reminds me a lot of my own grandfather- a very soothing voice and pretty much always laid back.
I am sorry that I will be unable to attend his service this afternoon as I am working today, but please give my condolences to his loving wife, who I have gained great respect for after seeing her nearly every day at his side.
You and your family will be in my thoughts and I hope we can get together soon to get caught up on the recent developments.
