David McIntosh Murray
Beloved and Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather
David M. Murray 94, of Yarmouthport, MA passed away on the 18th of February at the Mayflower Nursing Center. Born and raised in Newton, he graduated from Boston University in 1937 and earned his CPA. Dave's career in finance included Rumford Press in Concord, NH, the US Navy during WWII, Dresser Industries in Olean, NY and culminated as VP/CFO of the Hysol Division of Dexter, Corporation. Dave and his wife Libby raised their family in Olean, transferred to Laguna Hills, CA, and moved to the Cape in 1979 to enjoy a long retirement.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Libby. He is also survived by brothers Malcolm and Robert, a son F. Scott, and his wife Jill, daughter-in-law Lee Murray, granddaughters Barbara Grein (Ehrich), Julie Scott (Bill), Susan Murray (Tony Wood), Alissa Orzea (Paul), Sarah Murray, six great grandchildren and one on the way. Dave is pre-deceased by his sisters Harriet and Jean, his son David Jr., and his grandson Scott.
Dave's passions were family, community service, golf and boating. Throughout his career he volunteered for service to Rotary, Olean General Hospital as a trustee, First Presbyterian Church of Olean and United Congregational Church of Falmouth, Cotuit Bay Shores Association, and the Bartlett Country Club.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth, MA, 329 Main St, Yarmouthport, MA at 3:00 PM, Saturday the 21st of February.
