Olean, NY-- Debra J. Dieteman of Olean died Friday (December 10, 2004) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY after a long illness.
Born July 23, 1952 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of James Everitt and Grace Nunamaker.
Mrs. Dieteman was a 1970 graduate of Olean High School and first worked as a graphic artist for Commercial Graphics Design Studio in Philadelphia, PA. After moving to Geneva, NY she was employed as an art teacher and a remedial reading teacher, later becoming director of the Wendy Brown Memorial School of Art in Geneva. Upon returning to Olean she worked as an artist in many mediums and for various businesses including Square One Advertising in Olean and the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development where she was responsible for developing artwork and logos for county brochures.
In addition to her artistic endeavors she enjoyed dancing with a local Ballet troupe in Geneva, teaching aerobics for several years in Olean and performing the puppet show for Art in the Park. Recently she enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing and cross country skiing.
Surviving besides her mother of Olean and her father of Hinsdale are a stepfather Omar Kent of Olean; a daughter Melissa J. Dieteman Austin of Olean; a grandson Caleb M. Austin; 3 brothers and sisters Darlene Spencer of Norfolk, VA, James (Gail) Everitt of Cincinnati, OH and Christine Everitt of Olean and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (December 15, 2004) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. John Bartz, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
