June F. Lowe
Olean, NY June F. Lowe of 2998 Route 16N died Thursday (December 25, 2014) at University Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Born May 2, 1928 in Olean she was the daughter of Irving and Olive Wagner Clayson. On November 8, 1952 in the Cuba Methodist Church she married Joseph Lowe who predeceased her November 25, 2007.
Mrs. Lowe was a 1946 graduate of Hinsdale Central School and also a 1950 graduate of Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo where she received her RN degree. She was first employed at the Olean General Hospital as an RN and later as a bookkeeper for Lowe's Empire Service in Hinsdale that she owned and operated with her husband.
In 1941 she became a member of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church. There she participated in the United Methodist Women Society, the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion Auxiliary Post #1434, the Order of the Eastern Star Electa Chapter #84 and was a former member of the Red Hot Hatters of Olean as well as the Fay Hollow Sunshine Club of Hinsdale.
She will be remembered as a sweet lady with faith, values, and principles. She will also be remembered as a giving and caring person who helped others. She loved her family and friends and was a fabulous baker. She also loved crafts, flowers, reading and camping. She had a love of sending occasion cards throughout the year to friends and family. But most of all she loved sharing moments with her grandchildren whom she adored and loved every minute she spent with them.
She was a loving mother to three sons Joseph (Vickie) Lowe of Grovetown, GA, James (Kathryn) Lowe of Hinsdale and Jared (Bridget) Lowe of Lakewood; two daughters Janelle (Douglas) Taylor of Allegany and Julie (Lawrence) McLaren of Littlestown, PA; thirteen grandchildren Douglas (Sarah), Chris (Linda), Seana, Derek (Kristina), Nathan, Craig, Nolan (Elaine), Brice and Katie; five great grandchildren; a brother Donald Clayson of Olean and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother Douglas Clayson; two sisters-in-law Shirley Clayson and Carol L. Clayson and three nieces.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (December 31, 2014) at 11:00am in the Hinsdale United Methodist Church in Hinsdale. Rev. Richard Young, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
