John K. Little
Allegany, NY-- John K. Little, of 151 Colonial Village died Saturday (November 22, 2003) in the Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility after a long illness. Born February 28, 1924 in Nunda, NY he was the son of William R. and Edna Cobin Little. On June 29, 1946 in Olean, NY he married Mary E. Lynch who predeceased him June 27, 1995.
Mr. Little was a graduate of Nunda Central School and then enlisted in the US Army where he served during WWII in the European-African-Middle Eastern theatre. He then went on to graduate in 1950 from Oswego State College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He also attended City College of NY, State College in Albany, and received his Masters of Science in Education from St. Bonaventure University.
He taught high school in Nyack, NY from 1950 until 1965 and during that time he taught adult education classes. From 1965 until his retirement in 1984 he taught driver education as well as middle and high school industrial arts for Little Valley Central School. Mr. Little was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. He enjoyed fishing, as well as playing guitar and harmonica.
Surviving are 3 daughters Susan A. (James Beach) Little of Olean, Kathleen E. (James) Bradley of Cuba and Margaret Mary (Timothy) Koen of Land ‘O Lakes, FL; 2 sons Kevin (Susan) Little of Portville and Jon A. (Jackie) Little of Hamburg; Joanne Little of Salamanca; 9 grandchildren; 1 brother James E. (Linda) Little of Salamanca and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a granddaughter Kristen Little; 1 brother Bill and 4 sisters Margaret, Lorma, Betty and Nancy
Friends will be received on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (November 25, 2003) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant assisted by Brother Brian Hart, OFM of Olean General Hospital. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cuba Skilled Nursing Facility or to the Catt. County SPCA.
