Carol L. Clayson
Olean, NY Carol L. Clayson of 1103 Washington St. passed away Monday (October 13, 2014) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean after a long illness.
Born July 26, 1936 in Olean she was the daughter of Marion and Ruth Thompson Nudd. On June 3, 1954 at the former Showers United Methodist Church in Olean she married Donald B. Clayson who survives.
Mrs. Clayson was a lifelong resident of Olean, attended Olean High School and first worked at the former Kresge's Department Store. She then worked at the former Fanny Farmer Candy Shop. For several years she was an Avon Representative.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Electa Chapter 84, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the National Library of Poetry. She formerly attended the First Church of Christian Science where she volunteered in the reading room. She enjoyed square dancing, cake decorating and camping.
Surviving besides her husband are a son Brian (Tracy) Clayson of Olean; 2 grandchildren Zoey and Zachary Clayson; 1 brother Daniel (Nadene) Nudd of Cuba and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Clayson on February 17, 2013 and a sister Rosalie Burton.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral services will be held Friday (October 17, 2014) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Brad Chesebro, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Olean will officiate. Burial will be in Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany.
