Obituary of Russell Herron

Russell E. Herron Allegany, NY Russell E. Herron of 1747 Gargoyle Rd. passed away Saturday (October 11, 2014) at the Absolut Care at Allegany. Born December 22, 1939 he was the son of Laverne R. Herron and Mary Charlotte Herron Farr. Mr. Herron was a 1957 graduate of Allegany High School. He delivered milk for 27 years for Meadowbrook Dairy, which later became Upstate NY Milk Coop. He then worked as a grounds keeper for The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean for 16 years. He enjoyed his friendships as a member of the Olean Elk's Lodge #491 and he loved animals, especially his pet cats. He also was a racecar driver in the area during the 1960's and later enjoyed four wheeling. Surviving are Sarah Proctor, his beloved companion of over 30 years and to whom he was like a father to her children; 4 children Cheryl (Ronald) Babb, Scott Herron, Kevin Herron and Darnyl (Brian) Brinkley; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 stepchildren Curtis (Dannielle) Proctor, James (Kelly) Proctor and John (Cindy) Proctor; 6 step grandchildren; 1 brother David (Janice) Herron; 1 stepbrother Jerry (Nancy) Farr, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a stepfather Gerald Farr, Sr.; a stepbrother David Farr and a stepsister Beverly Charles. Friends may call on Tuesday (October 14, 2014) from 2-3pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Services will begin at 3pm in the funeral home.
