Obituary of Richard Moses

Richard M. Moses Hinsdale, NY Richard M. Moses of 4152 Route 16N passed away Thursday (June 12, 2014) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit after a short illness. Born April 23, 1927 in Olean he was the son of Ellsworth J. and Marian Carlson Moses. On October 2, 1948 he married Joanna C. Blaske who predeceased him September 23, 1999. Mr. Moses enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany during WWII from 1945 to 1946. Upon his return from service he finished his education at Olean High School, graduating in 1948. He was employed for 30 years for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. until his retirement. He was a member of the Niagara Mohawk Pension Club, a life member of and past Chief of the Hinsdale Fire Department and was a life member of the Hinsdale American Legion Post 1434. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are 3 children Carol (Steve) Greco of Franklin Square, Rick (Janine) Moses of Hinsdale and David Moses of Hinsdale; 1 granddaughter Jessica Moses; 1 sister Doris Hadley of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by an infant son Thomas Karl Moses in 1961 and a brother Ellsworth Joseph Moses. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 11am until time of services at 1pm. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery in Maplehurst. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm and Carlton Sts. Buffalo, NY 14263 or to the Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
