Patricia S. Olkosky
Olean, NY Patricia S. Olkosky of 1029 W. Sullivan St. passed away Saturday (May 24, 2014) at the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.
Born October 4, 1929 in Olean she was the daughter of Michael E. and Bridget Dougherty Bearfield. On November 21, 1951 she married Robert F. Olkosky who predeceased her January 14, 2009.
Mrs. Olkosky was a 1947 graduate of Olean High School. She had traveled with her husband during his 20 year military career to Alexandria, VA; Great Falls, Mont; Niagara Falls, NY; Tachikawa, Japan; Spring Lake, NC and Alexandria, LA. She returned to Olean in 1964.
She studied Psychology at Jamestown Community College and then worked for Avon as a District Manager for several years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and its Altar and Rosary Society as well as the Catholic Daughters of America and was a life member of the Eagle's Auxiliary Aerie #616. She enjoyed socializing with her friends by playing bingo and by spending time having coffee, followed by walking at the mall. She also served the Olean Senior League for a time as its group vacation director.
Surviving are one son Robert M. (Pamela) Olkosky of Allegany; four grandchildren Michael (Beth Dixon) Olkosky, Emily Olkosky, Timothy Olkosky and Amy Olkosky and a great granddaughter Molly Olkosky; 4 sisters Elizabeth Huntington, Mary Despard, Kathryn (Glenn) Cooper and Sally Swetland; 2 brothers John "Jack" (Judith) Bearfield and George (Nancy) Bearfield and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by an infant daughter Mary Patricia Olkosky.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean where a prayer service will be held Wednesday (May 28, 2014) at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
