Obituary of Joanne Kelly

Joanne S. Kelly Olean, NY Joanne S. Kelly of Smith Rd. passed away peacefully Thursday (May 8, 2014) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born October 25, 1943 in Erie, PA she was the daughter of Edward and Clara Dorson Straub. On July 4, 1964 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Kenneth W. Kelly who survives. Mrs. Kelly was a 1961 graduate of Allegany Central High School and was first employed at Leo's Market. She and her husband moved from Olean to Portville in 1967 and she worked for 13 years for the Park and Shop Service Stores there until her retirement. While in Portville she was the director of the Little League concession stand for several years and was a member of the Portville Senior Citizens where she served as secretary for 3 years and also as the trip director. She enjoyed doing crafts and ceramic work. Surviving besides her husband are 4 children Nicole (Richard) Kwasneski of Mesa, AZ, Kimberly (Tony Crouse) Kelly of Salamanca, Edward (Karie) Kelly of Eldred, PA and Mark Kelly of Portville; 3 grandchildren Ashley (Matt) Shanahan, David McDaniel and Taylor Kwasneski; a great grandson Khale Shanahan; 2 brothers Chuck (Bonnie) Straub of Allegany and Larry (Trish) Straub of Cuba; a sister-in-law Mary Beth Straub of Allegany, 2 brothers-in-law Thomas (Darlene) Kelly, Jim (Sherry) Kelly and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and 2 brothers Richard Straub in 2009 and an infant brother Raymond Straub. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday from 6-9pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday (May 10, 2014) at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
