"Loved the Lord--Home at last"
Olean, NY-- Richard A. Parker of 1710 Seneca Ave. died Friday (January 10, 2003) in the Cuba Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born December 28, 1911 in Olean he was the son of Chester and Mabelle Beabout Parker. On March 23, 1963 in Shinglehouse, Pa. he married Alberta Eaton who survives.
Mr. Parker attended Olean schools and resided in Olean all of his life. He had been employed for Dresser Rand for 34 years from 1940 until his retirement in January 1975.
He was a member of the Portville Baptist Church, the Olean Beagle Club and the Cattaraugus County Rabbit Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising rabbits and dogs. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife are 5 sons Richard D. (Rita) Parker of Reading, Pa., Gary C. (Cecelia) Parker of St. Thomas, Pa., Gilbert A. (Marolyn) Parker of Johnson City, NY, Philip V. (Merry) Parker of Wrightsville, Pa. and Paul R. (Nina) Parker of Portville; 4 daughters Katherine M. (Michael) Feliciano of Buffalo, Karla M. (Jack) Bright of Olean, Kim M. (Christopher) Seavey of Johnson City, NY and Keren M. (Albert) Allen of Grand Rapids, MI; 1 stepdaughter Karen D. (David) Prymak of Portville; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 6 sisters Mabelle Shearer of Olean, Eleanor Hand of Eldred, Pa., Phyllis Muccino of Allegany, Dorothy (Ralph) Sheldon of Silver Springs, Md., Gloria Ripley of Scottsdale, Az and Rowena Clark of Hagerstown, Md. and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by an infant son Ronald Parker and 2 sisters Marion Skelton and Josephine Gueder and 1 brother Chester Parker.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. today from 4-7pm and Monday (January 13, 2003) from noon until 1pm. Funeral and committal services will follow at 1pm in the funeral home. Rev. Roger Hain, pastor of the Grace Bible Church in Shinglehouse, Pa. will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
In lieu of flowers, mem. may be made to Portville Baptist Christian School.
