Obituary of David Miller

David S. Miller Allegany, NY David S. Miller, 66, of Mediterranean Drive passed away Thursday (December 26, 2013) at Cuba Memorial Hospital. Born June 24, 1947, in Buffalo he was the son of Paul Miller and Mary Wright of Olean. He was a graduate of DeVeaux School, and in 1969 earned a B.A. in Sociology from Park College. That year he married the love of his life, Kathleen Gleason, at St. Bonaventure Parish in Allegany. She predeceased him on June 3rd of this year. For 34 years he worked as a manager for Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, serving in offices all over the country. In 2004 he retired and returned home to the Southern Tier. Since moving back to the area he could be found walking the track at the Olean YMCA, preparing taxes at H&R Block in Salamanca, and supporting St. Bonaventure athletics. Though he was not an alumnus there was no bigger fan of St. Bonaventure's basketball, both the women's and men's teams. He is survived by a son, David, of Philadelphia, and a daughter, Angie, of Olean. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith, and his beloved wife, Kathy. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. only on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, Elm & Carlton Streets, Buffalo, NY 14263.
