Obituary of Kenneth Putt

Kenneth L. Putt, Sr. Olean, NY Kenneth L. Putt, Sr. of 1216 Washington St. passed away Saturday (November 9, 2013) at his home after a lengthy illness. Born August 8, 1929 in Allegany he was the son of George and Mary Walters Putt. In 1956 he married Ann M. Kolasinski who survives. Mr. Putt attended schools in Allegany and had been a resident of Olean since 1948. He was an Army veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1946 to 1948. He had been employed with the former Clark Bros. Co., now Dresser Rand for forty four years, retiring in 1992. During several of his years while working for Dresser Rand he also operated Putt's Home Insulation. He then started working part-time for the Olean Area Federal Credit Union from 1994 until 2002. He had been serving as a Board of Director for many years up until the present time. Mr. Putt was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the United Steelworkers Retirees Association Local #4601. He had been a volunteer for Christmas in April and for Meals on Wheels. As an avid sports participant and fan, he had also served in many capacities with the Olean Little League as a coach, umpire, manager, concession stand operator and for a two year term as president of the Little League. Surviving (besides his wife) are four daughters Cynthia (Dennis) Hettrick of Olean, Cheryl (Jonathan) Velott of Blasdell, Denise (Ronald) Moore of Indianapolis, IN and Kimberly (Leonard) Hellebuyck of Clarksburg, MD; nine grandchildren; three great granddaughters; one sister Eileen Bell of Hinsdale and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Kenneth L. Putt, Jr. on Jan 9, 1974; a grandson Christopher Hettrick in 1999; two brothers James Putt and Leon Putt and one sister Sarah Boudrieau. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm where a prayer service will be held Tuesday (November 12, 2013) at 10;00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am at St. Mary of the Angels Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team.
