Obituary of Douglas R. Woodworth

Allegany- Douglas R."Woody" Woodworth of 3765 Forest Glen Road, passed away unexpectedly Friday (September 27, 2013) at the Olean General Hospital. Born December 2, 1940 in Salamanca NY, he was the son of Leroy and Genevieve Reynolds Woodworth. On June 22, 2002 in Allegany, he married Sharon Little Woodworth, who survives. Mr. Woodworth was a graduate of Salamanca High School. He was employed for over thirty years at the Allegany-Limestone School District as a bus driver and mechanic. Mr. Woodworth was a member of the Allegany American Legion and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horse shoes, singing and playing the guitar, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife are five children Karla Woodworth, Casandra Williams, Casey (Dean) Williams, Christopher Williams and Carl Williams; eight grandchildren; three sisters Shirley (Charles) Ullman of Salamanca, Mary (Greg) Krantz of Texas and Ida Woodworth of Salamanca; one brother Eugene (Peggy) Woodworth; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Fred Woodworth. He had a very special friend Dennis (Kelly) Fortuna whom he loved like a son. He is predeceased by a daughter Lonnie Woodworth; two sisters Alice Hutchison and Martha Woodworth and three brothers Charles Woodworth, Jim Woodworth and Thomas Woodworth. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home on Thursday (October 3, 2013) from 4-6pm at which time funeral services will begin. Deacon Michael Anderson with Our Lady of Peace in Salamanca will officiate. Memorials if desired may be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 3049 Syracuse NY 13220 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
