Obituary of Kathleen Miller

Allegany, NY Kathleen M. Gleason Miller of 4034 Mediterranean Dr. passed away Monday June 3 at home with her beloved family by her side. Born January 6, 1948 in Olean, raised in Allegany, She was the daughter of the late James "Pen" and Anita Hogan Gleason. She was always so grateful for the parents God gifted her with. She graduated from Little Bonas, Archbishop Walsh High School and D'Youville College. In 1969 she married David S. Miller of Amherst at St. Bonaventure Church Allegany NY. His employment took them too many parts of the country. Upon retirement she wanted to come back to her "Beloved Hills". Returning to Allegany, she began volunteering at the St. Bonaventure Parish Office and The Bridge. From then on, The Bridge became her second home until she retired due to ill health. She often said, "the volunteers were the heart of the shop" and she greatly appreciated the special qualities that each brought. She also enjoyed meeting and getting to know the customers. During her tenure at The Bridge, she was given The Francis Award for which she felt most honored. She was so happy to be back among her dear cousins, childhood friends and renewed these friendships. She greatly appreciated all of the support and kindnesses during her illness from them. Her happiest times were spent with family and her good friends. She enjoyed reading, antiquing, Red Hats and cruising with her husband and Paula and Dick. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son David (Wendy) Miller of Philadelphia PA, a daughter Angela A (Jen) Palmer Olean, one brother James J Gleason of Olean, four nieces Anita (Jeff Brown), Colleen Spriegle, Kelly (Joe) Faltyn, Melissa (Tom) Amoia and nephew Kevin Gleason. Several special cousins JA, LN, MBS and dear friends JA, PB, LF, MS, DS and the B's. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son Keith James and a brother Martin (Jewell) Gleason. Friends may call Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 West State Rd, Olean Thursday 7 to 9 pm and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (June 8, 2013) at St. Bonaventure Church Allegany 930AM. Fr. James Vacco Pastor as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery Allegany. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bonaventure Parish, The Bridge, Home Care and Hospice or Roswell Park Upper GI Clinic or the donors choice.
