Janet Elizabeth Driscoll
Huntersville, NC Janet Elizabeth Driscoll, formerly of Olean, passed away peacefully Thursday (March 14, 2013) in Presbyterian Hospital, Huntersville.
Born August 15, 1934 in Olean, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Lucelia E. Hendryx Foster of Olean. On January 31, 1953 in Olean she married her loving husband Robert E. Driscoll who predeceased her in July 1999.
Mrs. Driscoll was a 1952 graduate of Olean High School and while raising her four children she entered St. Bonaventure University where she graduated with a B.S. in Education degree in 1972 and a M.S.E.D. in Education degree in 1981.
She taught at Bolivar Elementary and St. Mary of the Angels Parochial schools for many years prior to moving to Largo, Florida in 1986 with her husband. She continued to teach for twelve years in the Pinellas County School system.
Mrs. Driscoll was a resident of The Villages in Florida for four years before moving to Huntersville, North Carolina with her daughter and son-in-law. She had been a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean and later St. Catherine-Siena Catholic Church in Largo, Florida. She enjoyed traveling, reading and crafting for friends and family.
Surviving are her devoted daughter Karen Anne (Curtis) Marshall of Huntersville, NC; two sons Steven E. (Mary) Driscoll of Olean and Robert J. (Barbara) Driscoll of Allegany; one granddaughter Kelsey Anne Driscoll; three grandsons Robert M. Driscoll, Sean M. Driscoll and Kyle R. Driscoll; a sister-in-law Audrey Jean Nickel Foster of Duluth, GA and several nieces, nephews and cousins who enjoyed being together for celebrations and close family gatherings.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her eldest son Charles E. Driscoll in 2003; two brothers Captain Retired James Foster and Donald Foster; a sister-in-law Patricia La Fever Foster and her special life-long friend and cousin Nancy Foster-Milgate.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 19, 2013) beginning with a prayer service at 9:00am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
