Olean- Joan M. Stanton of 128 W. Green Street, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (February 20, 2013) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born March 4, 1957 in Olean, she was the daughter of William and Shirley Shoup Showers. In 1981, she married Richard Stanton, Sr. who survives.
Mrs. Stanton was employed for many years at the Olean General Hospital and for the Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. In her free time she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son Richard (Tegan) Stanton, Jr. of Olean; three grandchildren; three sisters Doris Dowell, Linda Showers, Sylvia Poweska; two brothers Eddie Showers and Michael Showers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents and one brother David.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Monday (February 25, 2013) from 10am-noon, at which time funeral services will begin.
Memorials if desired may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
