Obituary of Henry Ackley

Henry F. Ackley Kill Buck, NY Henry F. Ackley of 6263 Route 417 died unexpectedly Friday (September 21, 2012) at his home. Born February 1, 1954 in Olean he was the son of Lloyd and Leda Boser Ackley. Henry was a 1973 graduate of Allegany Central School and then served with the U. S. Marines in the Vietnam War from 1974 to 1978. He continued service as a Reservist until 1980. He first worked at McNamara's Flower and Garden Center in Allegany and later for Peterson Landscaping in Allegany. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked making trails, camping and enjoying nature. He also loved working with wood, reading and spending time with handyman projects. Surviving are two children Joseph Tackett and Brenda Ackley; five grandchildren; five brothers and sisters Lloyd Ackley of Alabama, Rebecca (John) Mortenson of Sugar Grove, PA, Valerie Ackley of Allegany, Cynthia (Wayne) Lombardo of North Tonawanda and Laura Ackley of Wellsville and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two sons Henry Ackley on December 27, 1988 and Casey Jimerson in August 1998; two sisters Mary Foley in 2011 and Wanda Bryer in 2000 and one brother George Ackley. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (September 27, 2012) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
