Paul A. Chapin
Allegany, NY Paul A. Chapin of 2833 Five Mile Rd. in Allegany died Tuesday (September 11, 2012 at his home.
Born November 17, 1927 at the family farm on the Five Mile Road in Allegany he was the son of Albert B. and Singne Larson Chapin. On February 28, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Olean he married Arlene M. Turner who survives.
Mr. Chapin worked on the family farm and later worked for Dresser Clark Co. from 1964 until 1993. He also owned and operated C & B Chapin Electric Service for 45 years.
He was a member of Creekside Chapel in Allegany where he served as a head usher. He also installed the original electric work on the building in 1984 and maintained the electrical service over the years. He was still doing electrical work recently where his friends and family could expect "house calls". He was a longtime member of the United Steelworkers Union #4601 and for years made maple syrup.
Surviving besides his wife are one son Douglas (Deborah) Chapin of Allegany; two daughters Beverly (Francis "Gene") Geyer of Allegany and Carolyn Crawford of Allegany; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 1 sister Doris Bonhoff of Allegany and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Albert P and Ellen Chapin and their 1 year old daughter Alanna on January 24, 1988 and also two brothers Robert Chapin in 2006 and Howard Chapin in 2002.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean this evening from 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Friday (September 14, 2012) at 11:00am in the Creekside Chapel, 2523 Five Mile Road Allegany. Rev. Adam Stein, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Creekside Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
