Obituary of Lillian M. Phearsdorf

Lillian M. Phearsdorf "loving mother and grandmother" Carrollton, NY-- Lillian M. Phearsdorf of 5720 Rte 417 died Thursday (February 13, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 27, 1907 in Ceres, NY she was the daughter of William and Xenia Maxson Frailer. On July 3, 1926 in Portville, NY she married George C. Phearsdorf who predeceased her June 18, 1977. Mrs. Phearsdorf was a 1924 graduate of Olean High School and attended the former Central State Normal School in Lock Haven, Pa. She taught school for several years at the North Nine Mile School in Allegany and later worked at the former Rathbun Molding Corp. in Salamanca. She then worked as a time keeper for Fancher Furniture Co. prior to her retirement. As a resident of Carrollton since 1939, Mrs. Phearsdorf enjoyed several hobbies including sewing, quilting, square dancing and growing flowers. Surviving are 2 sons Charles (Joan) Phearsdorf of Allegany and David "Pat" (Margaret) Phearsdorf, Sr. of Carrollton; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 son Roger Phearsdorf in 1957; 1 daughter Helen Litzenberger in 1990 and a grandson Robert J. Phearsdorf on October 8, 1982. Friends will be received today from 2-4 & 7-9pm and on Saturday (February 15, 2003) from noon until 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral and committal services will be held at 1pm in the funeral home. Rev. Gregory Brennan, OFM will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
