Obituary of Albina Herzog

Olean- Albina E. Herzog, a longtime Olean resident, passed away Saturday (July 14, 2012) at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation center, after a brief illness. Born March 11, 1916 in LaPort, PA, she was the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth Plano Caffo. She married Samuel Herzog, who predeceased her in 1973. Mrs. Herzog,was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1944-1945. She was employed for many years for the Olean Public Schools and was a member of St. John's Church in Olean. For ten years Mrs. Herzog volunteered her time for Meals on Wheels and volunteered for several years with the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and at the Olean General Hospital. She is survived by two daughters Mary (Peter) Bzdak of Warrenton, VA, Lynn Ruding of Portville; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers Vincent, Albert, Louis and Stephen Caffo; two sisters Della Williams and Catherine Ash. There will be no services at this time. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorials if desired may be made to St. John's Church 120 N. Union Street, Olean NY 14760 Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home.
