Obituary of Albert James

Olean- Albert James of 705 Maple Street, passed away Saturday (April 21, 2012) at the Bradford Manor, after a brief illness.
Born January 13, 1923 in Olean, he was the son of Sylvester and Helen Baker James. On October 22, 1947 he married Arlene M. Stevens, who predeceased him July 14, 2007.
Mr. James was a graduate of Olean High School and St. Bonaventure University. He attended the United States Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
He was enlisted in the United States Air Force and later for the United States Army. Mr. James served during WWII and during the Korean War, receiving numerous medals and honors, and retiring as a Colonel.
After his military service, Mr. James went to work for Clark Bros in Olean, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of the Olean American Legion Post 0530 and previously attended the Grace Alliance Church in Olean. Mr. James loved fishing and but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are one daughter Ruth James of Olean; two sons David (Lisa) James of Salamanca, Paul (Laurie) James of Lackawanna; four grandchildren Courtney and Matthew James of Salamanca, Thomas (Kristen) Tascone of Lynchburg, VA, Joseph (Brenda) Tascone of Wellsville; 11 great- grandchildren; 2 great great -grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Street on Wednesday (April 25, 2012) from 10-1pm, at which time funeral services will begin. Rev. John Lounsbury, pastor of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
