Obituary of Josephine Pavel

Olean- Josephine M. Pavel, formerly of Homer Street, passed away Sunday (February 12, 2012) at the Absolut at Allegany. Born December 14, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Samuel and Jenny Ciampa Startire. On June 24, 1961 in Olean, she married George F. Pavel, who predeceased her November 9, 2010. Mrs. Pavel retired from Brown's Boot Shop where she was a clerk for many years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church. Surviving are three sisters Rose Rouse of Melbourne, FL, Grace (Tom) Parker of Spencerport, NY, Janice Young of Tampa, FL, one sister in law Joan Startire of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a daughter and her husband, Jo Ellen and Peter Sandek and their son Kyle on November 26, 2000; one brother Joseph Startire and two sisters Frances Rosetti and Katherine Paoliello. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Wednesday (February 15, 2012) from 9-10am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am at St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to the Absolut at Allegany 5th and Maple Streets, Allegany, NY 14706.
