David J. Donavon
Niagara Falls, NY-David J. Donavon, 40, of 1227 LaSalle Avenue, a native of Allegany, died unexpectedly at home on Monday (January 30, 2012) after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Born May 27, 1971 in Rochester, NY he was the son of Suzanne M. Eaton Gaughn. He attended St. Bonaventure Parochial School and later Oswego Junior and Senior High School. He graduated from Allegany Central School and then received a business degree from Oswego State University.
He had been employed in retail management for several different businesses over the years including Olean, Allentown, PA, Indiana, Darien, NY and Niagara Falls. He enjoyed playing fantasy football and being a dad to his children. He especially loved his fiancée Jennifer Lahood whom he planned to marry in June of this year.
David was the loving son of Suzanne Gaughn and stepson of Suzanne's husband Joseph Gaughn of Allegany. He was also the stepson of Francis (Colleen) Donavon of Olean. Also surviving are his fiancée Jennifer Lahood of Niagara Falls; his six children Miranda, Morgan, Paige, Maya, Reggie and Kaylee; one brother Sean (Annette McGraw) Donavon of Allegany; one sister Kathleen Donavon of Key West, FL and several aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Clayton and Kathleen Eaton; his paternal grandparents Paul and Victoria Donavon and his paternal step grandmother Dorothy Gaughn.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (February 7, 2012) beginning with a prayer service at 9:00am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Diabetes Association 315 Alberta Drive Suite 102 Amherst, NY 14226.
