Nancy Willet Barker Bridenbaker
"NANA"
Allegany, NY Nancy Willet Barker Bridenbaker of 4683 S. Nine Mile Rd. died Wednesday (September 28, 2011) in Millard Fillmore Hospital, Gates Circle, Buffalo.
Born November 15, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of Charles and Marie Cook Barker. On December 26, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA she married Louis D. Bridenbaker, Sr. who survives.
Mrs. Bridenbaker, affectionately known to all as "Nana", was a homemaker all of her life, having devoted herself entirely to her family and to the children under who's care she was entrusted as a daycare provider and babysitter in her home. Beginning as a young woman she cared first for her grandmother and later her mother until each of their passing. That loving devotion continued as she raised her family in Rowland Heights, California. She was very active in the Parent Teacher Organization in her children's schools and served as a den mother for her sons Boy Scout troop. She also was active for fourteen years as a secretary for Little League Baseball. As her grandchildren grew she stayed involved in all their sports and school activities.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons Louis D. (Theresa) Bridenbaker, Jr. of Limestone and Douglas M. (Sharon) Bridenbaker of Allegany; one daughter Donna M. Bridenbaker of Allegany; nine grandchildren Linda L. (Damien Perry) Bridenbaker, Christopher J. (Amanda) Bridenbaker, Amanda (Joseph) Coniglio, Gregory Forman, Tyler J. Bridenbaker, Bryce N. Barker, Breanna M. Barker, Blake A. Barker and Bradley R. Barker; six great grandchildren Mark A Saldi, Gabriel A. Greene, John D. Coniglio, Connor J. Bridenbaker, Mathew Coniglio and Marie G. Bridenbaker and one brother Richard (Wendy) Barker of Yuma, AZ. She was looking forward to the birth of her seventh great grandchild Anya Mae Perry, due to arrive December 25, 2011.
She held dear to her heart and called them her honorary daughters Beverly (Ronald) Lipe of Mississippi and Linda M. Henderson of Allegany; one honorary son Randy Henderson of Allegany; one honorary grandson Tyler J. Threehouse of Allegany; and her special families, the William Phearsdorf, Sr. family, the Dennis Wymer family and the Randy Henderson family, all of Allegany.
There will be no prior visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Saturday (October 1, 2011) at 10:00am in Christ United Methodist Church 633 Linwood Ave. Olean. Rev. Kristen Allen, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers at the Allegany Fire Department and request that memorials in her honor be sent to the fire department.
